AFS Reviews
I am the PI of a laboratory at MSU and we needed an aquatic animals facility for our research. We contacted Aquatic Enterprises, and I have to say I am very happy about that decision. They were extremely professional and knowledgeable, and the facility has been operating without a hitch since its installation. Their rack systems are very efficient, clean and easy to use. Their support team is very quick and responsive. Overall, our experience with Aquatic Enterprises has been incredibly positive and I wholeheartedly recommend working with them.

Our Aquarius fish rack and monitoring system is now five years old and is still functioning like new. The low-maintenance design has enabled me to spend more time thinking about science and mentoring, and less time dealing with aquarium or colony issues. On the service and support end, Eric Stone and the Aquarius team have been really great to work with. Whenever I need to do routine maintenance (ex: UV bulb exchanges) or have questions they are quick to help and quickly resolve. Due to his extensive experience as a fish room manager, I’ve also found Eric to be very helpful with general questions about zebrafish husbandry and colony management, and when needed, have appreciated them using their network to connect me with other zebrafish researchers who have needed to solve similar problems.

I started my lab at NC State 2 years ago, and one of the most important decisions I had to make was which zebrafish housing system to use. I am very happy that I went with Aquatic Enterprises. At every step of the way, from design to installation to support, the Aquatic Enterprises team has been fantastic. Our multi-rack system is easy to use and maintain, and the unique features of their tank, rack, and filtration design streamline our workflow, allowing my lab members to spend more time on experiments. I enthusiastically recommend Aquatic Enterprises.

We recently had the opportunity to build a new zebrafish facility at Dartmouth’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center. After much investigation, we decided to go with the Aquarius Fish System from Aquatic Enterprises. We based our decision on the simplicity of their unique design, their efficient use of space in our relatively small facility and the depth of knowledge they displayed for building aquatic facilities. Plus, everyone we talked to that had an Aquarius system spoke very highly of their experience. Now that the system has been installed, we could not be happier with our decision. The system is beautifully simple to maintain and the level of customer service has been fantastic, with almost immediate responses to our frequent questions, rapid repair of minor issues and expert advice on establishing our biofilter. If you are in the market for a zebrafish system, large or small, I would highly recommend that you talk to Aquatic Enterprises!

We are deeply grateful for Aquarius Fish System's contributions to our school. We first saw the Aquarius System at a developmental biology conference in Woods Hole. The owner, Eric Stone was so impressed with the Sidwell students, the company donated a full zebrafish system to the biology department at Sidwell Friends School in October of 2015 and has continued to support it free of charge. When we first received the system, Eric even dedicated an entire day to helping us install it, and in the years since then has generously provided our students with research equipment and invaluable advice. The customer service at Aquarius is personalized and compassionate — frankly, unparalleled — and has greatly assisted us in developing and maintaining ideal zebrafish husbandry for our research. We have enjoyed working with them and look forward to our continued partnership. Thank you for supporting young scientists, Aquarius!

I have been very pleased with my choice of Aquarius Systems for our zebrafish housing. From the beginning, the folks at Aquarius have been excellent to work with. From helping to design the system to fit into my space, to installation, and continued prompt support, customer service has been excellent. The system is also thoughtfully designed, well-made and easy to maintain, meaning I can spend more time focusing on research, and less time worrying about potential issues.

I started my lab in 2012. I considered aquatic systems from 4 companies. Now, looking back 8 years later, I’m convinced I made the right choice. Here’s why: Aquarius custom-designed our system to meet our room size, orientation, and water supply. We went through several revised designs, quickly, with no issues. The Aquarius owner & founder personally assembled the system at our facility. Then, ~4 years later, we moved our facility to a bigger location 2 floors away. Aquarius again came to us, disassembled, & reassembled our aquatic facility. Again, no issues. Throughout my 8 years in dealing with Aquarius, they’ve always been an email or phone call away. They respond promptly, usually immediately. They’re fair & honest. They want to keep their customers happy. What else can you ask for? I’ll be with Aquarius for the rest of my scientific career.

We have a four year-old system from Aquarius and we love our system. I highly recommend the Aquarius Fish System for the following reasons. The system can house more fish per rack and in a given space without lowering the volume of water needed per fish. The tanks are well designed, durable and to easy clean. What, I really like is that there are not too many moving parts in system. The design is simple and efficient; this makes discovering leaks and fixing them straightforward. The UV bulbs need to be switched out every 12 months and this is straightforward, so is calibrating or changing out the pH and salinity probes. Overall maintenance costs are low. Eric Stone is very knowledgeable and helpful with trouble shooting problems and sending replacement parts. He also has a really good understanding of zebrafish husbandry. Finally, the cost of the system we purchased was very competitively priced.

When I first started my laboratory at California State University Chico, I contacted Dan and Eric about their Aquarius systems. I went to Seattle to check them out, and was impressed. Five years later, I know that I made the right choice. The system is great- it’s easy to clean, it’s great for ease of feeding the fish, it's reliable, and it's intuitive to use and troubleshoot. My laboratory is mostly undergraduate students (we don’t have animal care technicians), and we have never had a problem with it. The Profilux alarm system is super handy, sending me text messages if and when something happens so we can immediately rectify it. Add to that the fact that Dan and Eric are always ready and willing to help, and you’ve got a solid aquarium system for a great price with awesome customer support. I always recommend their system to new PIs. It’s really that great!

Nearly 7 years ago, I chose to install 2 Aquarius systems to support zebrafish work in my new lab. Prior to making this decision, I contacted all the major suppliers, and was thoroughly impressed by the knowledge, responsiveness, and product quality I found with the Aquarius team. The tanks and racks are thoughtfully-designed to minimize cleaning and simplify any routine maintenance needed. After 7 years of heavy use, all my original tanks, lids, and rack set-up remain in great condition. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!

We installed the Aquarius fish system in 2009, one of the first systems that they built. While initially hesitant to purchase a system from a new vendor, the design, cost and lifetime guarantees offered by Aquarius easily surpassed the offers from the competition. After 11 years, the purchase has become a great investment, as the facility is functioning as well as the day it was installed with very little maintenance required. In fact, a colleague recently toured our facility to help decide on which system to purchase and thought it was still new! Aquarius honors the lifetime guarantee on parts and is always a phone call away if we ever had any questions or need replacements. Overall, Eric Stone and Aquarius have been fantastic to work with over the last 11 years and I would not hesitate to purchase the system again.
